Distrikt Hotel, New York City Review

United States

On our latest vacation we stayed for 4 nights at the Distrikt Hotel in New York City. According to trip advisor, this hotel is ranked as the #4 hotel out of 437 hotels in New York City. I have been to New York City before, however this was the first time I have actually stayed in Manhattan. The Distrikt Hotel did not disappoint.

The staff was extremely helpful in several ways. They helped us to plan our arrival and departure from LaGuardia airport, including a private car transfer for both. In addition to handling the scheduling of these transfers, the cost for each transfer was only $65.00! In a city known for its high prices, my wife and I both thought this was a very reasonable price. A comparable trip by taxi would have cost about $45.00. For $20.00 we personally felt as though the upgrade to a private car and the fact that the car we were picked up in was a new Mercedes was definitely worth the money.

Once we arrived at the hotel the excellent service continued. The check in and checkout process was easy and efficient, our room was ready when we arrived and the bellhop almost beat us to our room with the bags. When we first arrived in our room we were greeted by a welcome letter from the hotel staff and s couple of small homemade brownies. Each afternoon, turn-down service was provided and the room was always clean and stocked with fresh linens and a full mini bar including soda, beer, water and juice. As an additional gesture, each afternoon they would also leave a card on the bed with the next day’s forecast and two chocolates. A subtle, but very nice touch when planning what to wear the next day out in the city.

The location of the hotel (see map below) is very desirable as well. It is located at 342 W. 40th street. This is basically about a five minute walk from Times Square. You are close enough to the action that you can be in the heart of the city in a few short minutes, but far enough away that the rooms are quiet at night and allow for a peaceful night’s sleep so you are recharged to go back into the chaos that is New York the next day.

In summation, the Distrikt Hotel has definitely earned its ranking and rave reviews on Trip Advisor and will certainly be a stop for us on a future visit to NYC.
